We had our first appt at the University today for Sasha. We were told that there was nothing they could do for her. Referred to go to the Center for disabilities and figure out what adaptive equipment we need to make her life better. One doctor out of the several that we saw was willing to attempt to straighten her feet but said he really didn't think it would help. To be fair he did say that he has been surprised before. But he would only attempt her feet not anything else. He said she was too old.
Funny thing is we've been told such things about two other of our children. Patience was only going to be able to eat if we were willing to have her chest cut open and have some pretty invasive surgery done to her esophagus. God told us to wait. We obeyed. She eats perfectly and she never had that surgery.
We were told that Daniel would never be able to go to the mountains due to his Pulmonary Hypertension. We were also told that it would probably not resolve but be a life long problem. God decided that was not His plan and Daniel's lungs are completely healed. We are also planning with his doctors approval to take him to Colorado.
I'm not saying that God always gives us what we want. I'm not saying that Sasha will walk some day. But I know if that is God's plan she will. I also know that there are doctors, by God's Grace, that are helping these older kids with Arthrogryposis do things they never thought were possible. So our easy choice is to find a doctor that's willing to try. In my opinion God is setting the stage...we get to be a part of another amazing thing He is about to do through our daughter Sasha. I have no idea yet what that is going to look like but I'm excited that I get to be on this journey with her and with the Creator of the Universe in control.
Praying for God's wisdom and will to be done in all things! How did she take the news?
ReplyDeletePraying for her and so wonderful how God has worked in your other two children's lives! Love it!
